Cypress, Calif., Jan 8, 2018 – Clarion Corporation of America, a leader in consumer and commercial mobile electronics, announced today the selection of Evolved Vehicle Environment’s EVEConnect solution as a premier connected home service provider for Clarion’s Smart Access connected car platform.
EVEConnect integrates connected home devices from a number of platforms into one easily accessible environment. The solution enables users to control locks, garage doors, lights, thermostats and more from the in-dash touchscreen of vehicles equipped with Clarion’s powerful Smart Access infotainment platform. Ergonomically designed for safe and effective in-car use, EVEConnect provides seamless connectivity and functionality that aims to reduce driver distraction.
“This is an exciting opportunity to work with Clarion and be part of their leading Smart Access infotainment platform,” stated Warren Butland, Co-Founder & EVP of Global Sales of Evolved Vehicle Environments. “Through EVEConnect, we are showing the world that being able to access your connected home from your car is the next stage of the connected IoT space.”
Increased connectivity means increased peace of mind. “Everyone at some point has left their home and wondered whether the door was locked or the garage door was left open,” explains Jason Taylor, Co-Founder & CEO of Evolved Vehicle Environments. “With EVEConnect integrated into Clarion’s Smart Access system, you can check the status of the door lock or the garage door from your vehicle dashboard, and confirm that they are actually secure.”
EVEConnect can even automate the processes through automation “scenes,” which are a series of functions that can be made to correspond to specific events such as leaving or arriving home. Using geofencing technology, EVEConnect can sense vehicle location and initiate a series of desired functions. Using the “Leaving Home” scene for instance, EVEConnect closes the garage door, locks the exterior doors of the home, turns off the lights and sets the smart thermostat to “away" mode. When the sequence is complete, a notification is displayed on the vehicle dashboard. EVEConnect also offers flexibility. Scenes are fully customizable and users have the option of creating their own scenes, tailored to their individual routines and needs.
