Michelin to Contribute to the Acura NSX Project by Providing Multiple Sets of Tires and Participating in Marketing Activities Designed to Promote the Built, the Partnership and the Program
CYPRESS, Calif., Nov. 18, 2015 – Clarion Corporation of America announced today that it has brought on Michelin USA, a leading manufacturer of superiorly engineered quality tires, as a gold level sponsor of the Clarion Builds Acura NSX project. Michelin USA will be contributing multiple sets of their Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, ideal for track use, to the NSX build, playing a major role in ensuring that, upon the car’s completion, it will be able to put its power down to the ground while providing maximum adherence and outstanding dry grip on curves, especially on tight corners.
“Tires will always play a critical role in how it can allow a driver to test the limitations of a vehicle, as well as to showcase its capabilities,” said Johnny Valencia at Michelin USA. “Michelin is focused on every detail to ensure it creates the best final product, a quality shared by Clarion as evidenced with their meticulous restoration of iconic classic cars under their innovative Clarion Builds program. We are proud to be a part of this exciting program and look forward to seeing the completed gen one NSX hit the track wearing our Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.”
Clarion and its key partners for each project, including Michelin, aim to unite fans of the project and fully integrate them as a part of the program through both social and traditional media engagements. Additionally, Clarion and its partners work to encourage fan and enthusiast participation by providing detailed content highlighting every part of the build process.
“When upgrading a high-performance vehicle to deliver an even more exhilarating thrill than it did in its factory form, there are parts of the car that, if overlooked, can drastically diminish the end result of the upgrades made and tires are one of those critical parts,” said Allen H. Gharapetian, Vice President of Marketing and Product Planning for Clarion Corporation of America and Chief of the Clarion Builds Program. “When it came to selecting the right tire manufacturer partner for our NSX project, Michelin was an obvious fit for many reasons, but most notably because they have proven their ability and value in helping high-performance cars perform optimally on a race track while, in parallel, Michelin tires can be found as original equipment for some of the world’s most prestigious supercars.”
To celebrate Michelin joining the Clarion Builds program for the NSX project, both Clarion and Michelin launched an exciting “Find Your Groove” social media contest on Facebook, where the grand prize winner received a $1,000 certificate toward the purchase of a new set of Michelin tires, as well as a $100 iTunes® Gift Card.
